Takes your breath away

«We start from Sils Baselgia and head to the Via Engiadina trail. We know the route and the steady climb towards Grevasalvas, but the experience is different every time. And every time, it takes our breath away. The view of the Engadin is incredible and, most of the time, it belongs to us alone.» As far as Guia and Clive are concerned, walking and wonders are closely intertwined: it's a question of opening yourself up to the wonder of nature, enjoying the stillness and gathering energy.

For Guia and Clive Greaves, Sils is not just the starting point for exploring nature, it is also a place of comfort, a peaceful and simple world. «The virtual absence of cars in the village, inspiring encounters with the locals, and the careful handling of tradition and nature – for us, these factors are also part and parcel of Sils. Anyone who sets out hiking from here is already attuned and receptive to the scenery and nature.»

Space and time to talk

Guia still remembers it well: «I'm not really a mountain type. It was more by chance that I first came to Sils with a friend. It was as though I had been struck by lightning: what scenery!» That was many years ago. Ever since her first encounter, she has felt a deep connection to the place. «On our hikes and excursions in Sils, we have plenty of time to talk. We find ourselves a lovely vantage point, pack some sausage and mountain cheese and are the happiest people alive.»

  «A hike full of contrasts with breathtaking views.» Tour description
• Grevasalvas – Lake Lunghin – Maloja
  «In our opinion, this is the most beautiful hiking route in Sils: First head to Grevasalvas, then up to Lake Lunghin and back down to Maloja; approx. 4.5 hours.»
• Delights of the Fex Valley
  «There are many excursions in Sils, but the advantage of a trip into the Fex Valley means that you don't need a rucksack. The restaurants there offer excellent honest cuisine.»
• Alpine floral delights
  «First hike to the mountain lake Lej Sgrischus (2,618 metres above sea level), then up to the Piz Chüern (2,689 metres above sea level). The descent into the Fex Valley takes you across lush grassy slopes with an abundance of Alpine flora. It is said that more Edelweiss flowers in the Fex Valley than anywhere else in the whole of Switzerland.» Tour description
