SILS LIVE — 13:01
Where you are a beginner, an expert or just ski for fun, the Engadin is a cross-country skier's paradise. It offers more than 220 kilometres of magical cross-country ski trails. The sunniest of these are in Sils and on the frozen Lake Sils.
Curdin Perl has 13 years of cross-country World Cup experience. For him, Sils offers ideal training possibilities, which is one of the reasons why he lives with his young family in Sils. The cross-country ski runs in Sils are right on the doorstep. Whether classic or skating, all those interested in cross-country skiing will find something to their taste in and around Sils. Try it out!
As soon as the ice on Lake Sils is thick enough and the snow conditions allow, we prepare wonderful cross-country ski trails for you across the glittering expanse to Maloja and to Plaun da Lej or Sulej/Silvaplana. The sheer pleasure of the wide-open spaces is written on the faces of all Nordic fans. The route measures 12 kilometres straight across Lake Sils, Lake Silvaplana and Lake Champfèr, which are part of the famous Engadin Ski Marathon trail, and takes you past idyllic side valleys and across Isola.
You will find attractive circular trails in and around Sils.
Savour the silence, find your own rhythm and admire the beautiful scenery: it's as though the largely traffic-free Fex Valley and its trails are tailor-made for enjoying cross-country skiing. You can also look forward to sampling the local specialities in the various hotels and restaurants along the way, even in winter.
The legendary Engadin Ski Marathon stretches over 42 kilometres from Maloja to S-chanf. Around 14,200 cross-country ski enthusiasts make the pilgrimage to our southerly upper valley each year to take part in the world-famous Engadin Ski Marathon (always the second Sunday in March).
The Engadin Night Race from Sils to Pontresina will take place on the Thursday before the Engadin Ski Marathon.
You can stop off to use the wax room, cloakrooms, toilettes and showers or have a bite to eat at the restaurant Grond Burger. More information about Muot Marias
The whole Engadin region is excellently maintained, thanks to the tireless efforts of the drivers of the 15 machines who are out either early in the morning or late at night grooming the trails. We therefore request that locals and visitors show their appreciation and support for the sport by purchasing a pass.
