"Erich and Gerda - Summer Will Come Again" with Irina Schönen and Gian Rupf

Irina Schönen and Gian Rupf have been lending their voices to SRF's Kulturplatz for ten years. Together, they have developed several stage programs, such as "Bear Proposes" with scenes from Anton Chekhov, "A Whole Life" by Robert Seethaler, and "Foreign Body" and other stories by Peter Stamm. In their latest production, "Erich and Gerda," they slip into the roles of an elderly married couple, using Tim Krohn's affectionate and quirky dialogues from his novel cycle "Human Emotions." Erich and Gerda are over 80 and have spent their entire lives together in a cooperative apartment in Zurich's District 5. What might it be like when we reach their age? How should we grow old, how should we leave this world and our loved ones? How do we interact with each other in partnerships? How will our current relationship dynamics affect a time when we are very old and, ideally, as vibrant as Erich and Gerda? A seventy-minute journey through 10 “human emotions”: tenderness, thirst, monogamy, liveliness, surprise, eloquence, longing, transvestism, loss, summer will come again.
