Experience Chinese tea culture with Xia Chen

Xia Chen grew up in China and has lived in Switzerland since 1994. For around 20 years, she worked in business and consulting at the interface between China and Switzerland, liaising with government agencies in both countries. Tea is an important part of her heritage and ultimately became her calling. She trained as a tea expert in China, met tea farmers and tea connoisseurs, traveled to tea-growing regions, and expanded her expertise on-site. Today, she combines traditional knowledge with her personal experience and shares it through lectures, tastings, and tea study tours. Xia Chen introduces guests to the diversity of authentic tea – first with a lecture covering topics such as tea varieties, production, history, preparation, and health benefits. This is followed by a tasting, where five of the six basic types of Chinese tea are prepared and served fresh, their aromas also being compared to those of wines. The tasting is complemented by small snacks from the Waldhaus kitchen.
