The popularity of ice swimming has increased considerably in recent years. Fans of the cold water swear by the health benefits of the cold shock: it is said to strengthen the immune system, have positive effects on the autonomic nervous system, and make one more stress-resistant. The body reacts to extremely low temperatures by releasing valuable substances such as adrenaline, endorphins, and anti-inflammatory corticosteroids. This allows the body to regenerate more quickly after physical exertion. Ice swimming is also very popular in the Engadine region. Since the Upper Engadine lakes are usually completely frozen over by mid-January at the latest, Murtaröl AG and its employees keep an ice hole open daily. Between mid-January and Easter, there is therefore an opportunity for ice swimming every day from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. #### Important Information #### * It is advisable not to swim alone so that companions can help in case of emergency. * Before swimming, you should warm up thoroughly by exercising or wearing warm clothing. The same applies after swimming. However, it's important to warm up slowly. When showering after ice bathing, it's advisable to gradually increase the water temperature so your body can slowly adjust to the heat. * Minors only with a supervising adult * No alcohol or drugs * Water temperature in degrees = maximum bathing time in minutes * Keep your head above water * Do not jump in

As soon as the bitter cold has turned the surface of Lake Sils into a thick layer of ice, you have the opportunity to enjoy the winter silence in a completely different way.

Diving under the frozen Lake Sils is a truly special experience. The mystical play of light beneath the ice, which is up to 70 cm thick, is breathtaking and unique.
