Trenches in Albanatscha
A little over 100 years ago, the First World War came to an end. In 2019, the trenches and gun emplacements on Albanatscha were archaeologically documented for the first time. What is new about this form of archaeology is the fact that we can compare the findings with the surviving position plans in the archives.
The hike begins in Silvaplana and initially heads towards the Julier Pass (Pass dal Güglia). The trail leads across meadows to the Suvretta Alp and continues uphill. At a signpost, follow the ground markings to the right. The path now becomes rockier and leads to the summit of the Albanatscha, where historic trenches and an impressive panoramic view await.
