On snowshoes through untouched Sils snow landscapes

Something quite special about Sils is that many families who spend their vacations in Sils have been doing so for generations. The Rudolf family from Winterthur are no exception: the couple own a small apartment in Sils, which Beatrice Rudolf's grandfather bought as a cooperative apartment back in the 1960s. In winter, there is one thing they are particularly passionate about: snowshoeing.

Lonely paths and deep nature experiences

«Being able to discover places that are otherwise inaccessible in winter is one of the main reasons why we love snowshoeing so much. We immerse ourselves deep in nature, far away from the beaten track. Here we can enjoy the peace and solitude. Another particularly nice thing about snowshoeing is that we are also able to get higher up into the mountains and out of the valley - a nice throwback to the days when we used to go downhill skiing.»

In 2015, the couple took over the apartment in Sils from their parents. They now know almost more people in Sils than at home in Winterthur. «It's just so familiar and personal here,» they say. Since they both work 80% and often work from home, where they can organize their working hours themselves, they really spend a lot of time in Sils, even in summer. And they enjoy it to the fullest.
