Ova Chamuera

The valley owes its incomparable scenery largely to the mountain stream Ova Chamuera. It is one of the last unspoilt Alpine rivers and, like the Beverin, is one of Switzerland's hidden water pearls. At the very top of the valley are some beautiful small mountain lakes, followed further down by large gorges with high rock faces and gravel plains with winding river courses. Plans to flood the Val Chamuera as early as the middle of the last century. Fortunately, later ideas for a small hydroelectric power project in the lower part of the valley were rejected by the inhabitants of the municipality.
