Hiking highlights around the Sils Lakes

Hiking and walking around Lake Sils

What could be more beautiful than the view of the play of colors of Lake Sils and the surrounding landscape? The paths are also suitable for leisurely strolls and the barbecue areas on the Chastè peninsula invite you to linger. The forests on Chastè and on the left side of the lake provide cool shade even in midsummer. In autumn there is a particularly magical atmosphere around Lake Sils, as the gold-colored needles of the larches shine in all their glory.

Hiking and walking to Lake Silvaplana

Part of Lake Silvaplana also belongs to the municipality of Sils and is definitely worth a visit. For a change, hike with a view towards St. Moritz and watch the spectacle of the colorful kites and windsurf sails on the lake.

Hiking in the Corvatsch region

The impressive glacier massif offers you top-class mountain experiences. The Furtschellas cable car takes you comfortably up to 2700 m above sea level. There, hiking trails of all kinds and fantastic views of the lake region await you. A special attraction is the entertaining water trail that takes you to six small mountain lakes.

Hikes in remote valleys

The Val Fex

The largely traffic-free high valley is an ideal introduction to our mountain world. The paths lead through flower-filled alpine meadows, shady forests and along bubbling mountain streams. The Sils side valley enjoys strict nature and heritage protection and is also very rich in cultural treasures with its picturesque houses, farms, hotels and churches. Anyone who is tired after hiking all the way back to the Fex Valley can easily return to Sils on the horse-drawn omnibus.

Grevasalvas

Anyone hiking on the right side of Lake Sils can enjoy wonderful views towards Corvatsch and Piz da la Margna. It is a unique hike through forests and over mountain streams with a breathtaking view of Lake Sils. This hiking trail is part of the Via Engiadina, the famous long-distance hiking trail that crosses the entire length of the Engadin in 12 stages. On the first stage between Maloja and Sils you also hike through the idyllic village of Grevasalvas, which is definitely worth a visit.

Please note: Due to the risk of rockfalls, the Via Engiadina between Sils Föglias and Sils Baselgia is closed for an indefinite period of time. A diversion via the path next to the cantonal road has been set up and marked. From Sils Baselgia towards Maloja the path is accessible again. We ask for your understanding!

The Val Fedoz

The Val Fedoz is the wild brother of the Val Fex. The sparse, high alpine vegetation has its own charm. In summer the Fedoztal is home to a herd of goats. Otherwise you are mostly alone with yourself and nature here, at the foot of the Piz da la Margna. The "Aua da Fedoz", the valley's mountain stream, rises at the very back of the valley near the glacier and meanders through the valley's floodplain landscape to Lake Sils. Each section of the river is unique and an ecological treasure. A hike into Val Fedoz can also be combined with a boat trip to or from Isola.
