SILS LIVE — 17:14
Marvel at the fairy-tale beauty of the Engadin in winter on its numerous hiking trails. Starting your hike from Sils is particularly picturesque: you are just a few steps away from unspoiled nature. Even snowshoe fans get their money's worth here.
Our winter hiking trails are kept clear and are well-maintained. Feel the magic as you hike through deep snowy forests or across the white expanse of the frozen Lake Sils.
The snow-covered Fex Valley has its own special charm, offering an extensive network of well-maintained trails. Not to mention excellent cuisine. Of course, you can also cover some of the distance in a horse-drawn carriage.
Sils has two marked snowshoe trails. They lead to the spectacular Muotta da Güvè vantage point and to the Beach Club on the shores of Lake Silvaplana.
The flat and easy Suot Ovas trail is about 4 kilometres in length and is ideal for families and beginners. It takes you across snowy meadows and light larch groves via Traunter Ovas on Lake Silvaplana and Crotschas back to Sils Maria. You can stop halfway at the Beach Club to enjoy a hot drink or a delicious pizza.
The medium difficulty trail is approximately 5.5 kilometres in length and leads you through the snowy mountain forest, over the 2,036 metre Muotta da Güvè and back to Sils. You will be rewarded with spectacular views and beautiful scenery. A medium to good level of fitness is required for this trail.
Both trails have been certified by the Swiss Snowshoe Federation (SVS). They are consistently well-marked and signposted, safe from avalanches and compatible with nature. They are the first and only SVS snowshoe trails in the Engadin. The use of these trails is entirely at your own risk. For the sake of the wildlife, we kindly ask you not to stray from the official trails.
The Lake Trail starts at the Furtschellas middle station (2,312m) and leads to the Ustaria Rabgiusa restaurant (2,440m) and back. An unforgettable way of experiencing unspoilt nature, with magnificent vistas over the lake-strewn Engadin landscape.

This takes the thrill of tobogganing to a whole new level: the specially prepared toboggan run is around 1 km in length and leads through the God Laret down to the shores of Lake Sils. It starts on the Fexerstrasse road above the Waldhaus Hotel, but you can only get to this point on foot.
This is great fun for everyone! The toboggan run is set up in the Muot Marias children's area near the ice rink and lit with torches. Toboggans are provided. Afterwards, the rankings are announced and the prizes awarded under the starry Sils sky. Participation is free.
A nature phenonema that only very seldonly occurs. If no snow falls during the period of time where the lakes in the Upper Engadine freeze, the surface becomes bare ice. Please note that entering the ice or skating on the lake is always at your own risk!
